Frequently Asked Questions

What happens during my first reflexology session?

Your initial session will be longer than usual (around 90 minutes) to allow time for us to discuss your health history and what you'd like to gain from reflexology. I'll explain how reflexology works and answer any questions you have. We'll then move on to a full treatment where you can relax and experience the benefits firsthand. The treatment itself is the same length as a regular session, but this extra consultation time helps me create the most effective treatment plan for you.

Is reflexology painful?

Not at all - reflexology should be a deeply relaxing experience. While I may find some areas of your feet or hands that feel tender (these often correspond to areas of tension in your body), I'll always work within your comfort level. I use varying pressures during the treatment and will check in with you to ensure you're comfortable.

Do I need to prepare anything for my mobile treatment?

Since I bring all the necessary equipment, you only need to provide a quiet space where you can relax without interruption. This could be a spare room, living room, or any comfortable area with enough space for my reflexology chair. Wearing comfortable, loose clothing is recommended, and you'll only need to remove your shoes and socks for foot reflexology or roll up sleeves for hand reflexology.

How often should I have reflexology treatments?

This varies depending on your individual needs and what you're hoping to achieve. Many clients find weekly sessions most beneficial initially, later moving to fortnightly or monthly treatments for maintenance. During your first session, we'll discuss your goals and I can recommend a treatment plan tailored to you. You're always in control of how often you'd like to receive treatments.

Is reflexology safe during pregnancy?

Yes, reflexology can be wonderfully supportive during pregnancy, but I only offer treatments after the first trimester. It's essential to let me know if you're pregnant when booking, as I'll adapt the treatment accordingly. Many mothers-to-be find reflexology helps with relaxation, sleep, and managing pregnancy-related discomfort.

How will I feel after a reflexology treatment?

Most people feel deeply relaxed after their treatment, and this feeling often lasts for several days. You might notice improvements in your sleep, mood, and energy levels. Some people occasionally experience mild temporary reactions such as feeling tired or emotional - this is completely normal and usually indicates that your body is responding to the treatment. I always recommend drinking plenty of water afterwards and taking time to rest if possible.

What aftercare should I follow post-treatment?

To get the most from your reflexology session, try to take things easy for the rest of the day if possible. Drink plenty of water to help support your body's natural healing processes, and avoid heavy meals or alcohol immediately after your treatment. You might notice you sleep particularly well that night, so it's ideal if you can plan a quiet evening. Some people experience mild temporary effects such as feeling tired or energised, needing to visit the bathroom more frequently, or having heightened emotions - these are all normal reactions showing your body is responding to the treatment.
